Francesca Secchi – Coach

 

Francesca started playing volleyball when she was 6 years old, played all the junior tournaments from the under 14 on; won the bronze in the under 16 and the under 18 national category, when she was awarded “the best outside”.

 

Between 15 and 17 years old Francesca also played in the League and won the Championship for 2 consecutive years. At 17 years old she became a professional player and has joined teams in the Italian highest level leagues A1, A2 and B1.

In 1998 Francesca won the B1 Italian Cup with the Società Volley Cecina and was awarded best player of the season. She has won the B1 championships three times, in 2003, 2006 and 2010 and was in the final four at the A1 Italian Cup.

 

Having played for 21 years, Francesca spent most of her life as a professional volleyball player. Six years ago she decided to start coaching focussing on the division 1 junior players with the intention to grow volleyball talents.

 

Francesca is a technically prepared, keen and enthusiastic coach, well disposed and able to deal with different personalities and develop their potentials to the highest.

 

She produces tailored programmes for different clinics, focussing on the technique and the tactics and teaches teams to build winning strategies

Valerio Bettini – Coach

 

Valerio Bettini was born in Pisa, Italy, in 1983. He started playing volleyball at the age of 10 and never stopped since.

 

Eclectic player, he is able to play as lateral outside, setter, opposite and libero. He played for 8 years in the national Serie B (the equivalent of Super8 in UK) and several years in Serie C, winning 2 regional titles.

Alessandro Lazzeroni (Italian Olympian), Riccardo Fenili (Beach Volleyball champion and libero in Serie A), and Glauco D’Oriano (coach for Serie A), to mention but a few.

 

Valerio He is a qualified 1st degree Italian volleyball coach (level 2 coach in UK). He has coached men and women teams in Serie C and Serie D, being first coach in UISP Championship, in 1st Division juniors (18).

 

His coaching approach covers 4 main aspects: technique and fundamentals, tactics and strategy, body fitness and injury prevention, psychology and motivation. Both at the player and team level.

 

Valerio is a fan of master coach Julio Velasco and follows his teachings such as the “winning mindset”, “the alibi theory”, and “the qualities of a leader”.

João Inês – PT and first Assistant Coach

 

João started playing volleyball at the age of 16 at school and then joined a club in South Africa playing the provincial league as well as the National League.

 

He transitioned onto beach volleyball and played in the national league for a few years. He moved to UK in 2011 and, whilst playing in the local beach volleyball league in Bournemouth, he has completed a Volleyball England Level 1 coaching course. [read more=”Read More” less=”Read Less”] 

João is a qualified personal trainer for 19 years to this date and has worked in different gyms over this time in various roles. He is also a qualified Pilates instructor for matt and ball Pilates and is in the process of completing a MTB Level 2 Ride Leader course through British Cycling.

Amelia is a part-time VH photographer and full-time social media specialist. She has produced all marketing materials for VolleyballHub since the beginning and is the mind behind our posts. So if you like what you read it is thanks to Amelia!
